A crown reduction can help to balance the height and width of your tree without impacting on its health. It’s usually performed when a tree has outgrown its location or when there is need to reduce weight from the canopy.

When the tree's crown is cluttered and dense, it can have a negative effect on the flow of air and sunlight. Crown thinning reduces the crowns density, therefore increasing light penetration and air movement throughout the tree.

The removal of a tree may be required for a number of reasons, most commonly because the tree has become diseased or dangerous to the public.

Deadwooding

Deadwooding is a form of pruning that involves the removal of dead limbs and branches from a tree. Light deficiency, pests and disease damage to root damage are all part of a range of reasons why branches can die off. Deadwooding should be carried out for safety as dead branches will eventually decay and fall off. This process is normally slow, but can be shorted by high winds and extremities of temperature. This is particularly crucial for trees overhanging roads, houses, public areas and gardens.
